The coat of arms was originally approved for the 252d Coast Artillery Regiment on 14 March 1929. It was redesignated for the 150th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion on 29 April 1952. The insignia was redesignated for the 252d Artillery Regiment on 2 May 1960.
